JOB TITLE/POSITION: Program Director
REPORTS TO: Executive Director?
SALARY RANGE: $45,000 - 50,000
JOB TYPE: This is a full-time position: M-F, 8:30am-4:30pm
VAS: Volunteers Assisting Seniors: Using a network of trained, certified volunteers, VAS provides free, unbiased education and counseling to seniors in Omaha and surrounding communities. VAS currently offers New to Medicare and Medicare Open Enrollment counseling and education, and Homestead Exemption Application Assistance.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
Responsible for oversight of VAS SHIP programs including New to Medicare and Medicare Open Enrollment.
Manage the volunteer program and assist with recruitment, retention, and recognition of VAS volunteers.
Manage the Navigators and the Professional Volunteers Program.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements:
Associate’s degree
Technologically literate with strong computer skills and knowledge of software including: Microsoft 365 Suite, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, and Google.
Excellent customer service skills
Self-starter who can work independently, establishing priorities and managing workload
Comfortable working with seniors
Excellent written, verbal communication and public relations skills
Preferred Qualifications:
?Bachelor's Degree
Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, ACA and/or other health insurance
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:?
This position requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, a general knowledge of health insurance, and a willingness to become a subject matter expert on Medicare.
Liaison with the State of Nebraska SHIP office and staff.
Actively participate in training and education as assigned. Complete Medicare certification training within 30 days of hire.
Assist with grant applications, contracts, and reports.
Perform client pre-assessment and intake, work with other members of the team to provide timely services for clients.
Client counseling for Medicare and Homestead Exemption.
Maintain confidentiality of client and organization information.
Assist with special projects and events.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, multi-line phones, and photocopiers.
