POSITION SUMMARY

The Behavioral Health Program Coordinator is primarily responsible for case management efforts in the Behavioral Health department. The Coordinator will provide onboarding and training for all Behavioral Health department new hires and assist with the coordination of behavioral health projects, initiatives, and regulatory compliance. The Coordinator will also function as part of the primary care treatment team, managing patients with behavioral health problems by providing interventions and developing specific behavioral health treatment plans for CDHC patients.

POSITION-SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for Behavioral Health Case Management staff life cycle to include: hiring, performance management, employee coaching, development, and disciplinary action.
  • Develop and maintain behavioral health case management workflows, processes, and procedures
  • Assist with the implementation of quality improvement initiatives
  • Participate in the interview process alongside the Behavioral Health Leadership team to determine the appropriateness and qualifications of prospective therapy staff members
  • Provide ongoing bi-monthly in-service trainings to all case management and therapy staff. Areas of development and in- service training include but are not limited to: Diagnosis and assessment, resiliency, communication skills, crisis intervention
  • Coordinate and manage special projects and initiatives as assigned by department leadership
  • Completing utilization reviews, overseeing primary therapist process of utilization review and assisting in the process of ensuring that all client encounters are covered in some way (i.e. insurance, private pay, etc).
  • Ensure full adherence to the policy and procedure manual, identify gaps in workflow processes and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies including but not limited to: Joint Commission, HRSA, Region 6 and assist with audits as necessary
  • Provide direct patient care and maintain patient caseload as defined
  • Assist primary health care providers in recognizing and treating mental health disorders and psychosocial problems.
  • Utilize evidence based tools to assess the clinical status of patients referred
  • Complete clinical documentation according to internal CDHC policies and procedures and in accordance with regulatory bodies including but not limited to, Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Joint Commission, CMS, and Region 6.
  • Partner with Behavioral Health Leadership to arrange coverage of all shifts, ensuring adequate staffing is provided for all locations.
  • Co-lead process groups and/or any additional clinically-oriented groups on an as-needed basis
  • Provide input to marketing plan as requested

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Master’s Degree Required.
  • Licensure: Licensed Independent Mental Health Therapist, preferred, Provisional Licensed Mental Health Therapist working towards full licensure required.
  • Experience: Previous management experience preferred, 3 plus years of experience working with youth, adults and or families preferred
  • Expertise: Working knowledge of evidence-based treatments for mental health conditions. Ability to make quick and accurate clinical assessments of mental and behavioral conditions. Ability to work through brief patient contacts, including via telephone and teleconferencing. Ability to train and teach effective behavioral health interventions. Ability to work effectively as a team, interfacing with patients, primary care providers, consulting psychiatrist and mental health specialists, as well as with administrative and support staff. Ability to effectively represent CDHC’s interests in the community and maintain effective working relationships among co-workers, public, private, and professional groups. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Must be comfortable with use of computer operating systems (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Electronic Health Record System.
  • Language: English, bilingual is a plus
  • Work Hours: Typically, Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00am – 6:00pm, may also include some evenings and weekends.
  • Travel: Locally, intrastate, and interstate, as necessary
  • Exposure: The exposure characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. For example, while performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is rarely exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Additionally, the employee may occasionally be exposed to blood borne and other hazardous chemicals. Finally, the noise level in the work environment can occasionally be quite loud. In all cases personal protective equipment will be provided to the employee in combination with adequate ventilation and other engineering controls to minimize the risk of exposure or other hazardous occurrence.
