Description

The Coordinator of Member Engagement provides a wide variety of programming opportunities for a diverse student body; assists in the operational management of the facility; and assists in the management of student-employees for the Marshall Wellness Center, a   92,000-square foot multi-use fitness and recreation facility that features state-of-the-art cardio and strength training equipment, basketball and volleyball courts, a dance studio and a 90-yard indoor field turf.

Job Duties

  • Provides leadership in the administration and management of programs and services for members of the Marshall Wellness Center.
  • Provides frontline services for students and employees, performing a variety of functions associated with the front desk, including greeting students and employees, answering telephone calls and emails, answering questions, and directing students to appropriate staff for assistance when necessary.  
  • Assists in the creation and delivery of fitness, wellness and recreation programs for students, faculty and staff.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises student workers that assist with delivery of wellness and recreation programs.
  • Administers new hire paperwork for student and part-time employees. Collects student and part-time employee timecards and prepares payroll.  
  • Coordinates experiential learning opportunities for the Marshall Wellness Center, collaborating with other departments where appropriate.
  • Provides leadership in the management of departmental technology and streaming platforms including Innosoft Fusion, When2Work, Fitness on Demand, CloudCover among others.
  • Assists with the marketing and outreach functions of the Wellness Center to include graphic design, digital media, web support, and social media outreach.
  • Assists with the operation of the Marshall Wellness Center and Disc Golf Course to include facility scheduling, staff supervision and front desk operations.
  • Prepares and sends routine correspondence to the campus community related to the operations of the Wellness Center
  • Responsible for the general appearance of the front desk and lobby in the Wellness Center, ensuring a clean, safe and welcoming environment for students and employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: 

  • Bachelorâ??s Degree required; 
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross (or obtained within 60 days of hire).
Certifications:
  • NSCS, NSCS-CPT, NSCA-CSC, and SCCC preferred.
Experience: 
Required:
  • Experience in a customer service-related field with the demonstrated ability to react quickly, accurately, and congenially.
  • Experience that demonstrates strong communication skills, as well as strong organizational skills and strong management skills
  • Experience that demonstrates sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disabled backgrounds of community college students.
  • Experience that demonstrates student-centered decision making and a customer service orientation.
  • Experience that demonstrates a commitment to delivering first-rate customer service and exceptional support on a daily basis.
  • Experience that illustrates the ability to problem-solve, confront policy violators, and diffuse volatile situations.

Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to sit, stand, or walk for prolonged periods of time, including the ability to respond to emergency situations quickly and navigate facilities including the use of stairwells.
